Candle Refills - What are they?

I often get asked about candle refills - what are they, how do I use them, how do they work so I thought I would write a blog post about it.

Candle Refills - What are they?

Candle refills are candles which can be popped into a candle jar you already have in order to reuse the jar. They are not for using a standalone or pillar candle, they will not burn properly unless they are in a jar. It is important to note that the candle refill needs to be snug fit with the jar.

Why should I bother with candle refills?

Well, did you know that in the UK glass candle jars are not recycled due to them being made of heat treated glass? Millions of glass candle jars end up in landfill every year but if there is no damage to the jar then there is no reason why it cannot be washed and reused with a candle refill.

How do I use a candle refill?

Candle refills are really easy to use. Here are the steps to using a Lisa Woods Home candle refill:

candle refill step 1

1. After taking your candle refill out of the box, peel the backing off the wick stickers.

candle refill step 2

2. Place the candle refill into the candle jar and press down to make sure the wicks have stuck to the bottom of the candle jar.

candle refill step 3

3. Straighten the wicks and light.

As with all candles the first burn is the most important. Make sure to burn long enough for the melt pool to reach (or almost reach) the sides of the candle jar. This should take approximately 4 hours. We recommend that every time youu burn your candle that you do so for 4 hours.
