As you may know I love small business, after all I own a small business myself. So I thought I would share some of the fabulous small businesses I have come across in my local area of Huyton, Knowsley, Liverpool City Region, UK.
As a small business owner who trades at markets I have had the pleasure and priviledge of meeting and working alongside some wonderful small businesses but in this post I want to share a handful who live and/or work near me in Huyton and whose services/offerings I have personally experienced.
1. Nails by Paulette
Paulette is not only a local small business owner but also one of my closest friends so she had to have top billing in this list! After making a career change and deciding to ttrain as a nail technician, Paulette opened her at home nail salon, The Nail Hut. It is perfect if you are not a fan of noisy nail salons and she makes you feel relaxed and comfortable in her beautiful space. If you are in the Huyton area and looking for a place to get you nails done then you can find her on social media or you can book your appointment here.
2. Refill, Reuse, Renew
I love the whole concept of Donna's business. Refilling and reusing empty bottles of all your personal and home cleaning products. The eco friendly products that Donna offers are amazing and at such a great price point what is not to love?! If you don't see her at a market you can order for her milkman style doorstop delivery if you live locally. Never fear if you live further afield as she also ships orders too.
Not only does this fab small business offer refills but also a plethora of eco friendly products you won't know how you lived without. Find Refill Reuse Renew online and on social media here.
3. JFM Workwear
JFM Workwear are a family run business who used to be my neighbours before I moved to 'The Candle Shed' in Make Huyton Village. They specialise in workwear and PPE and are the place to go to get your branded workwear. If you have seen me at markets in my LWH apron then this is the place I got it from.
With low minimum order quantities it is perfect for small businesses who want some branded workwear. Find them online at on social media @jfmworkwear
4. Lupollo Bakery
Lupollo Bakery has the most divine sweet treats and there is no skimping on the portions either!
I first met Olivia at a Christmas market hosted at the local golf club in 2024 and now I make sure to look out for her at every local market I go to. You need not worry though if you don't manage to catch her at a market as her postal bake service means you won't miss out on these delicious bakes. I personally love anything Kinder Bueno.
Check out her website and order online here. Follow @lupollobakery
5. Candle Collective
'Another home fragrance brand' I hear you say. 'Why would she share a competitor?'
Well the truth about candlemakers is that we all love a good candle and the fact is you get used to the fragrances you work with so you seek out other candlemakers to buy from.
I have a lovely friendship with Carol from Candle Collective and we are often at the same markets together. Our brands have a completely different look, we offer different fragrances and some different products so why wouldn't Candle Collective be on this list? FYI my candle refills fit Candle Collective 30cl jars!
It is so nice to have a friendly candlemaker so near by because this one woman band business is hard work and it can be a real lift to chat to someone who knows what you are going through.
So time for some recommendations - my daughter absolutely loves the rhubarb and custard fragrance ( which reminds me, I need to put an order in!) I love the Holiday Memories car diffuser it is so uplifting.
You will find gorgeous gifts, accessories and of course candles aswell as diffusers and wax melts all lovingly hand crafted in Huyton.

6. Marvellous Markets
Marvellous Markets is a local market company running events across Knowsley and the northwest. I did my first market with them earlier this year and it was a soggy day to say the least but that is the way markets go sometimes, we are in Britain after all.
I love how they are trying to breathe new life into the local Knowsley highstreets here in Huyton and also, Prescot, Halewood and Kirkby. I hope it will continue to grow and that people will support their local small businesses.
Marie works so hard on these events which can be forgotten as it is the behind the scenes work which really makes markets a success. I hope that Knowsley Council will give her all the support in continuing to bring these wonderful events to the area.
Check out the Marvellous Markets calendar here or follow them on social media.
7. Clamanti Salon Supplies
Clamanti Salon Supplies are another small business who used to be my neighbours before I moved to 'The Candle Shed' in Make Huyton Village.
I was immediately drawn to this business as I used to be in the hair and beauty industry myself and I also worked in the wholesale area of this industry many moons ago.
They have a wide range of both wholesale and retail items and their wholesale has a no minimum order which is great for small businesses. Their products are really high end quality and the service is excellent with a real attention to detail in every order.
My personal favourites are the Neonail gel polishes as I am actually a qualified nail technician and love to do my nails. They have so many colours that you just don't seem to see anywhere else.
Shop online or follow on social media @clamanti
So that is my round up of some really local small businesses around Huyton. Please do take the time to visit their websites as every click helps boost their listing with Google which helps them to be seen by more potential customers.
