The September Reset

Is September a reset time of year for you?

I always find September to have a new beginning feel to it. This year is no different, however, at home, rather than getting school uniforms ready I am helping my eldest get ready to move away to university and my youngest prepare for college life. Suffice to say, there is definitely change in the air at casa Woods.

At work, I have just moved into new premises so the reset is huge. I have had a good clearout and now I am finding new ways to work and getting settled in. I feel like the new kid at school.

Finding joy amidst the chaos

Despite the chaos I do love the September reset. Autumn is my favourite time of year - my Autumn board on Pinterest is probably my biggest! I am definitely one of those people who change the throws and cushion covers with the seasons - I just love to be cosy. I like to deorate the house with acorns, pine cones, conkers and pumpkins. It brings me joy, so why not?

White Ceramic Pumpkins

Something to read

I love a good autumn read and I have enjoyed the Laurie Gilmore Dream Harbour series. I began this time last year with The Pumpkin Spice Cafe and have worked my way through the series, The Cinnamon Bun Book Store, The Christmas Tree Farm, The Strawberry Patch Pancake House and I am awaiting The Gingerbread Bakery. These books are a light cosy read and perfect for curling up on a rainy day with a pumpkin spice latte.

By far my favourite thing

The food.

Hearty stews and homemade soups are my favourite thing to eat so as soon as the temperature drops a little out comes the slow cooker and soup maker! I can't wait to pair some homemade soup with my freshly baked sourdough (this I have continued to make throughout the year).

This September I will be getting out my Mason Cash mixing bowl and taking some inspiration from the Great British Bake Off and making some seasonal bakes because who can have a pumpkin spice latte without a spiced oat cookie to go with it?!

New for this year

A new addition to my September reset this year will be walking to work. With the move to new premises it means that unless I am transporting something heavy then there really is no excuse for me to drive into work so my plan is to get walking. This will help with both my physical and mental health as well as burn off those lattes and cookies.
