Why I’m Stepping Off the Content Treadmill: My Shift to Pinterest

Why I’m Stepping Off the Content Treadmill: My Shift to Pinterest

Lisa Woods

In 2026 the "social media burnout" we’re all feeling is real, and many creators and small business owners are realising that platforms like Instagram and Facebook have become "pay-to-play" ecosystems where the shelf-life of a post is shorter than a tea break.

People can still find me on Instagram and Facebook, however, I am not focusing on these platforms as much these days other than to promote events as the return on my time invested in creating content for these platforms is not worth the effort.

Since shifting my focus to creating evergreen content which showcases my business for Pinterest I have seen a much more intentional engagement from my audience.

The thing is, Pinterest is not a social media platform it is a visual search engine. People are actively searching for what they want and if you are what they are looking for then their eyes will be on your content. This is a very simplified way of putting it and there are ways in which you need to optimise your Pinterest content in order to get people to click through to your offering but the fact that your content will still be showing up in searches 5 years down the line is amazing for businesses and much better that the traditional social media outlets.

Now this is what sets Pinterest apart from the social media platforms. Every single post on your Pinterest account can have a clickable link - no more sending people to "link in bio" and hoping they will click through. If your content has a good hook and engages the viewer they just need to click on the link in the post itself to be taken directly to your website/blog/affiliate link. The less friction a buyer has and the easier you make it for people to buy from you then the more likely you will actually get those sales you have been after.

I’m moving away from the 'scroll' and back into the 'soul.' I want my work to have a life beyond a 24-hour cycle. I’m building a library of inspiration on Pinterest, and I’d love for you to join me there - a place where we can focus on doing and creating rather than just watching and comparing.
